Q. What is the definition of retroactive pay for OP&F?
A. Retroactive pay is back payments that increase a member’s hourly rate or salary due to contract settlements or an across the board pay raise.
Q. What pay code should be used to report retroactive pay increases?
A. Retroactive pay increases are reported under pay code Type 6.
Q. What proration dates should be used?
A. The effective date of the pay increase in MM/01/YYYY to MM/31/YYYY format. For example, for a pay increase effective April 2024 through June 2024 use 04/01/2024 to 06/30/2024.
Q. How may months can be included?
A. Up to 12 months. If your retro exceeds 12 months you will need to add an additional pay code Type 6 with the applicable proration dates and wages.
Q. What type of wages can be included?
A. Regular, overtime, used paid time off, holiday, acting pay, shift differential, special duty, and any other reported wages deemed pensionable by OP&F.
Q. Can I use the retroactive pay code to correct pay errors?
A. No. To properly correct a pay error on a previously submitted pension report you must use the pay-code and pay dates that the error was originally reported under.
