Three trustee seats up for election this spring

Election materials for members interested in running for a seat on the OP&F Board of Trustees are available at op-f.org and at OP&F headquarters at 140 E. Town Street in Columbus. Election materials include nominating petitions, a certificate of eligibility, election rules and other required forms for candidates.

OP&F members will elect an active police representative, an active fire representative and a retired police representative to the Board of Trustees during elections this spring. Eligible members who intend to run for a position on the Board of Trustees must submit all required forms and information to OP&F no later than 4 p.m. on April 6. Ballots will be mailed in early May and the election results announced by May 27. The new term for the trustees will begin June 1.

OP&F’s investment portfolio value:

  • Current value (2/25/20):$15.97 billion
  • End of January value: $16.26 billion
  • End of December value: $16.36 billion

Board of Trustees Committee Notes

  • DISABILITY: In addition to the scheduled hearings and appeals, the Committee received the results of the Disability Exam Satisfaction Survey for the second half of the 2019.
  • FINANCE: The Committee received the 4th Quarter Budget to Actual Report for 2019 along with the Status of Past Due Employers Report.
  • GOVERNMENTAL AFFAIRS AND POLICY: OP&F’s legislative consultant briefed the trustees on the status of recent legislation introduced at the Statehouse regarding OP&F and the other Ohio retirement systems (HB 514, 515 and 516). In addition, OP&F General Counsel discussed the status of federal legislative items with the Committee.
  • INVESTMENT:Staff discussed the monthly portfolio performance update and significant cash movements. The Committee received the following reports during the meeting: the Investment Performance Report for periods ended Dec. 31, 2019; Private Equity and Private Credit Program Analysis for periods ended Sept. 30, 2019; the Real Estate Performance Review and the Real Assets Performance Review for periods ended Sept. 30, 2019.

Motions:

At its February 2020 meeting, the OP&F Board of Trustees approved the following motions:

  • Approved staff’s and Townsend’s recommendation to commit up to $75 million to iCON Infrastructure Fund V. Motion passed by a vote of 7-0, with one abstention (Investment Committee).
  • Approved staff’s and TorreyCove’s recommendation to commit up to $20 million to Altaris Fund V, L.P. Motion passed by unanimous vote (Investment Committee).
  • Approved staff’s and TorreyCove’s recommendation to commit up to $20 million to Francisco Fund VI. Motion passed by unanimous vote (Investment Committee).
  • Approved the investment manager rating recommendations for Causeway, PGIM Core Fixed Income and Loomis Sayles Core Fixed Income. Motion passed by unanimous vote (Investment Committee).
  • Approved the Committee recommendations for the initial determination of disability for the members as identified in the initial determination hearings list presented to the Board on Feb. 26, 2020. Motion passed by unanimous vote (Disability Committee).
  • Approved the Committee recommendations for appeal hearings for the members identified in the appeals list presented to the Board on Feb. 26, 2020. Motion passed by unanimous vote (Disability Committee).
  • Approved the Committee recommendations for Death Fund benefits for the members identified. Motion passed by unanimous vote (Disability Committee).
  • Approved the Committee recommendation to waive mandatory medical evaluation and filing of annual earnings statements for future years for the members identified in the disability reporting waivers list presented to the Board on Feb. 26, 2020. Motion passed by unanimous vote (Disability Committee).
