COLUMBUS, Ohio For the fifth consecutive year, the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) has received the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) for its Annual Budget for Fiscal Year 2006.
The Distinguished Budget Presentation Award reflects the commitment of OP&F to meet the highest principles of governmental budgeting. To receive the award, OP&F has to satisfy nationally recognized guidelines for effective budget presentation. The guidelines assess how well OP&Fs budget serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
"We are again very honored to accept this prestigious award, said William J. Estabrook, OP&F Executive Director. Receiving the Distinguished Budget Presentation Award confirms our commitment to be a leader and model among retirement systems as well as responsible fiduciaries managing our resources with the highest ethical standards."
GFOA is a nonprofit professional association serving 16,000 government finance professionals throughout North America. The Distinguished Budget Presentation Awards Program is the only national awards program in governmental budgeting.
Created in 1965 as a result of an act passed by the Ohio General Assembly, OP&F is a multi-employer pension fund serving more than 52,000 members. OP&F provides pension, disability, and survivor benefits to Ohios full-time police officers and firefighters and their eligible beneficiaries and sponsors health care benefits for eligible benefit recipients.
