Continued AARP membership not required for supplemental coverage

Ongoing membership in AARP is not required for OP&F members to continue to be eligible for the supplemental Medicare health care plan.

The plan, offered by AARP through a partnership with United Healthcare, requires an AARP membership for the initial year of enrollment only. For OP&F members, the AARP membership fee for the first year is paid for by United Healthcare.

Once this initial membership expires, OP&F members have the choice to either pay the annual fee to continue their AARP membership or let it expire. Regardless of their choice, OP&F members continue to be eligible for the supplemental Medicare health care plan.

OP&F members enrolled in the supplemental Medicare coverage should look for AARP’s membership renewal forms in the mail. .
