2008 Board of Trustee Elections: Active Police Representative, Active Firefighter Representative and Retired Police Representative
The 2008 Trustee Elections will elect an active police representative, an active firefighter representative, and a retired police representative to the Board of Trustees for a four-year term commencing June 2, 2008. To assist all candidates, OP&F has prepared an election packet outlining the duties, responsibilities and requirements of Board members. These packets are available from OP&F beginning Feb. 4, 2008.
2008 Election timetable
- Feb. 4 - Notice of Election sent to fire and police departments
- Feb. 4 - Nominating Petitions available
- Feb. 4 - Board Candidate Packets Trustee Election Packet available from OP&F
- April 7 - Nominating Petitions, and Certificate of Eligibility, and photo filing deadline
- May 5 - Ballots mailed by American Arbitration Association
- May 20 - Deadline for ballots to be received
- May 27 - Election results certified by American Arbitration Association and announced and certified
- June 2 - New term begins

In an effort to increase participation in OP&F Trustee elections, members eligible to vote in either the active fire and active police representative elections will have the option of casting their ballots via the telephone or the traditional paper ballot. For the police retiree election, the traditional paper ballots only will be used.
Below are step-by-step instructions on how to use the telephone voting system from the American Arbitration Association, OP&F’s election administrator. Your personal identification number (PIN) will be included when ballots are mailed this spring.
How to vote by telephone:
1. Call the toll-free number included with your ballot from a touch-tone phone.
2. Enter your individual six-digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) also included with your ballot.
3. Follow the instructions given by phone to vote.If a member votes using the telephone voting system and also mails in a ballot, only the first one received by the American Arbitration Association will count.
