Ohio Police & Fire Announces New Executive Director

For Immediate Release

COLUMBUS, Ohio The Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) recently announced the appointment of William J. Estabrook as executive director, effective May 7.

We are pleased to welcome Mr. Estabrook to OP&F, said Robert Beck, Chairman of the Board of Trustees. Mr. Estabrook brings a wealth of experience that will benefit both our members and our employees, and he will be an added asset to our organization.

As executive director, Estabrook will oversee more than $9 billion in net assets, as well as 170 OP&F employees in six departments. Additionally, he will be responsible for the strategic, financial and operational oversight of OP&F and the financial viability for pension and health care benefits for more than 50,000 retirees, active members and survivors.

Prior to joining OP&F, Estabrook served as city manager for Miramar, FL, where he was accountable for an annual budget of $120 million and 700 full-time employees. He also was responsible for economic development duties, resulting in 3,400 new job opportunities for the city and $580 million in commercial development. Estabrook served as OP&F's interim executive director for a 6-month period in 1996.

In addition, Estabrook has received several awards, including the 2000 Pinnacle Award from Miramar and Pembroke Pines Chamber of Commerce; the 1995 Distinguished Master of Public Administration Alumni Award from Indiana State University; the 1969 Commendation with Combat for Valor from the U.S. Navy; and the 1980 Boss of the Year Award from the Jasper Jaycees.

Created in 1965 as a result of an act passed by the Ohio General Assembly, the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund is a multi-employer pension fund. OP&F is one of five statewide retirement systems and provides pension, disability, survivor, and health care benefits to full-time police officers and firefighters in the state of Ohio.
