COLUMBUS, OHIO � Governor Bob Taft has appointed Robert H. Baker, Director of the Department of Finance for the City of Cleveland, to the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund Board of Trustees. Baker's four-year term is scheduled to expire June 3, 2007.
Baker joined the administration of Cleveland Mayor Jane Campbell on April 1, 2002 and is responsible for the budget, capital, account, audit, purchasing, printing, technology, and treasury functions of the city. Prior to accepting the position with the City of Cleveland, Baker had been with the law firm of Jones, Day, Reavis & Pogue from 1973-1989, in the firm's Cleveland, Los Angeles, Tokyo, and Chicago offices.
He also has extensive experience with the State of Ohio, having served as Assistant Finance Director, Budget Director and Finance Director during the administration of Governor John Gilligan (1971-75). A native of Cleveland, Director Baker is a cum laude graduate of Yale College and has a law degree from Yale Law School.
OP&F's Board of Trustees consists of six elected members representing police officers and firefighters (two active police officers, two active firefighters, one retired police officer and one retired firefighter), as well as the Ohio Attorney General, the Ohio Auditor of State, and a fiscal officer of an Ohio municipal corporation appointed by the Governor.
