COLUMBUS, Ohio Kathy Harrell, a member of the Cincinnati Police Department, has been named to fill the vacant position on the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) Board of Trustees. Harrell will begin her term as one of two active police officer representatives at the Boards meetings on Oct. 23-25, and will expire June 1, 2007.
Harrell has worked for Cincinnati since 1987 and has experience representing and working for police officers through her position as union president of Fraternal Order of Police Queen City Lodge #69. I am pleased to join the OP&F Board of Trustees and welcome the challenges it presents. I look forward to working hard to serve our members, and learning more about the issues that face OP&F today and in the future, she explains.
The Nominating Committee of the OP&F Board of Trustees interviewed candidates and recommended Harrell to the full Board to serve the remainder of the term vacated due to the death of former Board Chair, Lawrence Deck.
Created in 1965 as a result of an act passed by the Ohio General Assembly, OP&F is a multi-employer pension fund serving more than 52,000 members. OP&F provides pension, disability, and survivor benefits to Ohios full-time police officers and firefighters and their eligible beneficiaries and sponsors a health care program for eligible benefit recipients.
