Ed Montgomery, a member of the Columbus Division of Police, has been elected by the Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund (OP&F) Board of Trustees to fill a term as trustee through June 2008. Montgomery will serve as one of two active police officer representatives on the Board beginning with meetings on Jan. 23-24. According to Ohio law, Montgomery will only serve until the next general trustee election, which will be held this spring. While his term expires on June 1, 2008, he is eligible to run for a complete four year term.
With the Columbus Division of Police, Montgomery is the director of a task force of federal, state and local law enforcement agencies investigating mortgage fraud. In addition to his police work, Montgomery is an adjunct faculty member at Mount Vernon Nazarene University. He is a member of the Fraternal Order of Police, Capital City Lodge #9. He received a Bachelor’s Degree from Mount Vernon Nazarene University and a Masters of Business Administration from Ashland University.
The Selection Committee of the OP&F Board of Trustees interviewed candidates and recommended Montgomery to the full Board to serve as a trustee to replace Anthony Gorsek, a Cleveland Police officer who resigned his position on the Board in September.
